The "Karts for the Cure" Event is a fundraiser for the Diabetes Summer Surge.
The funds raised from the Diabetes Summer Surge will go towards supporting leading-edge research, services, and essential programs to help the over 3 million Canadians who are living with or affected by diabetes. Of the many millions who have diabetes mellitus 10% have Type-one and 90% have Type-two. Each and every day, another 480 Canadians are diagnosed with the disease.

About the Calgary Kart Racing Club
The Calgary Kart Racing Club was formed in the late seventies to organize and promote the sport of go-kart (or "kart") racing in Southern Alberta and is a member group of the FIA though its Canadian affiliate ASN Canada. It began as a small, dedicated group of individuals racing in Calgary area parking lots, and evolved to what is today a well organized, thriving non-profit organization with its own purpose built track, Calgary Speed Park, located in SE Calgary, adjacent to Race City Motorsport Park.
